Mutated pants with ingrown waistband

‘Draping that mimics twisted muscle tissue, viscose jersey with texture to imitate ultrasound scans, jackets with in-grown waistcoat details with vests…’
Do you have a 9-to-5? because I don’t. I wouldn’t know what it’s like getting up every morning and picking a different outfit everyday. I wouldn’t know because I happen to be the maestro of bumhood and freelance webdesign means I can meet my clients in my underwear. Wait, that didn’t come out right. The first time I encountered Eugene Lin‘s work was on my first ever trip to Fashion Week, and even then he had violated classics into a twisted yet subdued collection. The Vanishing Twin, the inspiration and title of his SS11 collection is a medical syndrome otherwise known as ‘fetus-in-fetu’, where a malformed parasitic twin is found within the body of a newborn. Don’t google it if you’re squeamish. (Which means everyone will have opened a new tab now…) The clothes might have a disturbing essence to it, but to go back to my opening question, aren’t they perfect for the 9-to-5 office? And when that well-informed male co-worker goes Hey that’s the Vanishing Twin! you could always murmur that your grandpa had that condition* and bag that free guilt lunch. So.Evil.
*The Vanishing Twin is apparently a common case in pregnancies. (grandpa did not have baby, or did he?)
Answer to pop quiz from nail post: Tripod. Just wanted to see what you might come up with. You guys are hilarious.

Really nice blog!!

odd odd odd beautiful. My 9-5 clothes are fairly uniform because I adore sleep. Everything fairly sedate and then one thing that screams me, quirky, colour
Interesting inspiration, and such beautiful clothes that came of it. I wish my office clothes were so fashion forward.. but instead I’ve fallen into a pattern of gray pants and red sweaters.
I would have never thought the vanishing twin could be an inspiration..Anyway the clothes are really nice ^^
I like the clothes better without thinking of the inspiration (i can’t help it but picturing it in). Nice clothes anyway.
lovely lovely clothes <3 though i don't really understand how the vanishing twin was inculcated as an inspiration for them hmm
I wish I had the drive to do freelance but alas, I am not organized and motivated enough and need to have a boss hounding me to get web projects done. But on topic – I love the tailored details of these outfits – especially that blue blazer-shirt in the last picture! Amazing!
…oh, these clothes are really cool, but I wish you didn’t tell me the inspirations :S
It’s funny: I don’t feel squeamish about the inspiration: I guess because I met him and saw the collection. I just love the way he thinks, and love his work.
Love the grainy quality of your shots – it’s funny I had the same effect with mine. My shots came out pretty spooky actually:

Not doing this to ‘self promote’ – just know we don’t always get a chance to see each others’ posts. It’s uncanny how similar our posts are – considering we went separately and didn’t check with each other. Great minds & all that. xo
You have made my decision, I am never having children (It’s okay, I’m 18 – I can say that!) The whole thing just freaks me out…
The implant is an amazing thing :)

Yes, I don’t know what 9 to 5 is either, but i guess those pants would be perfect.
I also love the dresses. Could those fit freelance bum-queens?

9 to 5 is a generic office job ;) starts at 9am, ends at 5pm – banks, insurance companies and the like ;)
@Shini,
Yes! I said I didn’t knew what it was because I am also a freelance addict!
Great to know there are others like me! Thanks!
hahaa owwwh dummy me I thought you were really asking what 9 to 5 was! xx
If I wore those pieces to the office I would have well-meaning co-workers fussing about trying to undo all the folds and set them straight…
Speaking of 9-to-5, these next 3 days before Thanksgiving holiday are going to feel like an eternity. And clearly I have already started slacking off, since it’s Monday morning and I am furtively checking on my favorite blogs on my crackberry.
these dresses are gorge, loved all the pleated details, very conceptual and nicely done

ewww, strange inspiration. Gorgeous clothes.
I absolutely love that navy blazer, although I don’t think I’d tell people the title of the collection that it came from :)
Hahaha I had fun reading this post.. ur just hilarious! :) I wouldn’t know what 9-5 feels like either.. never has, never do, and hopefully never will! I just can’t stand the idea of being in one place for hours and hours.. i always gotta move move move! that’s why it still baffles me why my degree was in computer science… like, really now? did i just imagine I could code on the run or something? LOL.

Another great post! Will miss you at Take10!
I did not know the condition was called that. It sounds too romantic to be such an odd deformation. Eugine Lin works great with pastels and I haven’t been following his work throughout I am glad he is still using them. His shapes are really to die for.
Amazing collection I’ve been following him for a while now..I think he’s just become twittering I think his twitter name is eugenelinfash also I heard a little rumour that he’s just been taken on by Expose Communications.
dude i was searching for it before i even finished reading that sentence.lol
a really cool but weird neoplasm for sure!
demented!
Lovely clothes. I’m convinced I ate my twin in the womb. Now I have her powers!
Totally stopped mid-post to google it. ewwwww…
