I've moved on...
...to a different domain. Why, what were you thinking? The truth is, I just woke up one day and decided it's time for a change—a metamorphosis, if you will; or, in layman's terms, if Britney can shave her head, then maybe so can I? Nevertheless, it's been a rather handsome 10 years of talking to you, and thank you for putting up with all my moodswings and terrible dad jokes. Fear not! The hormonal imbalance and jokes are more terrible on CUBICLE, see you there.

Berlin, Day 2

Shelving Disneyland and Paris for now – and I’m aware this shelf is still full with unfulfilled promises of Part Two‘s of supposedly fantastical adventures (i.e Azerbaijan and Kew Gardens), but I suppose now they will have to get cozy on the IKEA Billys until I run out of topics to entertain my guests (you) and then soon enough I’ll start pulling out photo-albums and first-editions from the bookshelf at an attempt to impress. I kind of wish I have a fancy chandelier instead.

Ironically, I’d mentioned that Berlin to me was like Disneyland when I was a teenager – a faraway land where all dreams come true… or in other words anywhere but home where curfew is 10pm, parties start at 11 and mother leaves 12 missed calls while you’re dancing. A faraway land with lots of light and a vibrant music culture, preferably. So when I landed in Berlin courtesy of Zalando I was hit by excitement, nostalgia and a tinge of giddiness, but shock to the system, too. I was quickly realizing I’d actually grown out of popular music (is Katy Perry still kissing girls?) and was finding all the graffiti more disconcerting than amusing – probably sharing inner-boiling sentiments of an old German lady living on the second floor of a freshly graffiti-ed compound. But as Carrie and I lost ourselves on an expedition to find the Brandenburg gate for touring’s sake we kept running into unexpected, awesome nooks that diverted us even further off the beaten track. It takes a while to understand, that you need to stop comparing the city to Paris or London at some point and from then on it becomes a completely new experience. The grunge and the architectural disorderliness are simply products of the rich history of Berlin, as if it’s all embedded in the buildings and streets, now how charismatic is that.

Thank you Zalando for having us and Carrie for the shots of moi.

As acting president of the Meh! club I don’t even have to tell you what I feel about Valentine’s day, but if you’re really eager to find out dial 080C-YNI-CISM and my secretary will be happy to fill you in on that while chewing loudly on stale gum. At no stage during school was I ever Glen Coco of the class and when I was finally rid of my braces and the dandelion weed under my armpits I then promptly acquired a geek boyfriend who brought me flowers every single day and 6 years later I ended up marrying him. So this card design collaboration with Beyond Retro (along with Bip Ling, Mademoiselle Robot and Fashion Editor At Large) is really for some kitsch fun, and of course a little contribution to the

BTW, could anyone recommend a tailor in London? The Aquascutum coat I picked up is all great except the 80’s power shoulders. I got rid of the pads but it still makes me look like I attacked the wrong end my my mummy’s closet. Help!

I’m not entirely sure what Turkey tastes like, superior chicken, perhaps? Despite the fact that my childhood had been smothered with American culture, I’ve never properly celebrated Thanksgiving as a holiday. For one, the fact that we were Koreans living in Poland attending an American School meant we were dabbling in holidays from all three countries, so ultimately it was cleaning up the food from Korean Thanksgiving and going out to watch the march for the Polish Independence Day… Then a few days later we’d go to school and glue turkey paintings on the window. It’s all a bit confusing. Anyway, Thanksgiving or not, this day is good as any – I just wanted to give a shoutout to my pumpkins Jen & Kit for being wonderful friends, thank you for reminding me to take my meds and reading bedtime stories when I wet my bed. But mostly for tolerating my laaame jokes, of course.

Also a little something for the readers… I know it may not be as much as I’d always love to give, but MyBag.com has allowed me to set aside a few favourites in a small style-shop, and using PARKANDCUBE10 10% can be knocked off any purchases in the next week! (valid till 1/12/11)

I think I’m finally making friends with the fringe… of course when it’s not busy snogging the hairpin under a pile of hay or camping in a wig. OK fine, the hairpin is my doing, and I did go on an impulse wig-purchasing spree at YesStyle… but once again, it’s difficult to manipulate the thing at all without the aid of a hairdryer! And besides, I keep buying kebabs with the money. Don’t mind the nerd glasses and its horn-rimmed glory, I lost one of my contacts on my trip to Azerbaijan (more on that later!) and it was either cross-eyed ‘that black-blotch-better-be-the-camera’ shots or pirate eyepatch… lucky for you it’s neither.

Boots courtesy of Kurt Geiger for the These Boots are Made for Walking series in their blog, shpank you! Also shpank you to dear hubby for the photos.

As a rare drinker the closest I’ve had to the Campari red is probably a squirt of a strawberry-fragrance dishwash liquid that landed on my lip while trying to drown a mosquito on the windowsill. Milla Jovovich was the obvious bait for me on this quick trip to Milan, as I joined Campari celebrate their Campari 2012 Calendar named It’s the End of the World, Baby after the popular belief that the world will end on the 21st of December 2012. Now, my personal opinion on that date is that it’s a load of rabbitpoop – you may quote me on the 22nd December – but if that gets Milla into 13 haute-couture dresses and throw a party then I’ll keep quiet for now. And how can I ever say no to Milan… I accidentally discovered marocchino (a miniature cappuccino with a cube of chocolate dunk for the sweetest last swig) and that was simply the best cure-in-a-cup for my travel exhaustion.

Thank you Campari for having me over, and Katy for the shots of moi!
