I've moved on...
...to a different domain. Why, what were you thinking? The truth is, I just woke up one day and decided it's time for a change—a metamorphosis, if you will; or, in layman's terms, if Britney can shave her head, then maybe so can I? Nevertheless, it's been a rather handsome 10 years of talking to you, and thank you for putting up with all my moodswings and terrible dad jokes. Fear not! The hormonal imbalance and jokes are more terrible on CUBICLE, see you there.

Sweater Polo, Pants Gmarket, Skirt DIY, Shirt I Don’t Like Mondays

The yarns were bought in December 2008 and hauled back and forth 5-6 times – to Warsaw, to  London – before I’d even done an arm’s length. To tell the truth, I stopped because I had no clue how to make the neckline and didn’t feel like finding out. Then that genius hit me as always…yeah…I found out that I’d knitted one side 1.5x larger in width. What an idiot. So I ended up knitting it longer in length to joining the two sides to make a shawl. Introducing, the new “circle scarf”, its versatility surprises me greatly.

I’ll upload the tutorial (not much of one btw) in mid September once the magazine I sent the DIY to is out.

If Autumn had a Welcome goodie bag, I would like it to contain all the above. Paycheck, could you maybe take a cab when you come home because I need to see you urgently about something.

On my last day in Kraków I had a chance to meet up with Gabriella from Street Fashion in Kraków, such a sweetheart. We drank lemonade at an atmospheric cafe on Bracka street. The cafe had seats outside that looked like school tables where customers would sit alongside eachother and watch the passerbys, kinda like first row fashion show seats, and I’m thinking that’s how Gabi chooses her streetstyle prey.

The Kraków trip was a breath of fresh air; my favourite was the fact that the modern youth culture was completely embedded in the historical bits of the city, so you’d easily find a nightclub in a Polish townhouse of the 1500’s. Café’s are marrrveloos as well, they have this natural vintage den-like atmosphere that you can’t possibly create out of scratch, oh how delicious.

You know this was coming: YOU NEED TO VISIT KRAKOW. Capitals and all.

Tunic – Gmarket, Pants – Zara, Shoes – ALDO

Our family has once again displaced ourselves into another holiday – by car this time, to the fabulous youth city of the south – Kraków (Cracow). Five hours of semi-car-sickness and 3 hours of blind knitting (knitting in complete darkness), we entered the city at 1am, still bright and bustling with nightlife. We have no itinerary for tomorrow or Sunday, and since August 15th* is a national holiday I doubt anything will stay open – but the general idea is to bumm around Old Town and overdose on tourist ice cream then come back to the hotel to watch more grainy CNN.

Actually, I can’t wait to see the capital of culture, not that I haven’t been here… what, 6 times in the past, but I don’t think I was ever old enough to appreciate the beauty of the city. Well then, I shall report back soon with visuals.

*August 15th is a national holiday in Poland and numerous other countries commemorating the Assumption of the Virgin Mary – which to this day I still do not understand as nowhere in the bible does it claim that Mary was lifted up into heaven. Here’s a personal message to Christians of all denominations: It’s best to base your faith on the bible and the bible only, question teachings that are not supported by the Book.

Finally had some time to drive into the center today, forgot how beautiful Warsaw was – really doesn’t help when the three most visited places in Warsaw are home, church and the closest MALL. Hey, believe it or not I’m a regular mall rat. They even have a statue of me in the foodcourt, tall long-haired thing licking a bronze icecream with shopping bags in tow, mounted on white marble with gold-embossed inscription that reads:

FOR SALE
Please help us remove this statue

Clearly, I take it for granted the many awesome places by growing up here – and the fact that I’ve gone through the explore Warsaw phase a few years ago. Now I’m suddenly feeling like I haven’t even seen a fraction of it, must set out on a quest this August.

Hope you’re all well.
