I've moved on...
...to a different domain. Why, what were you thinking? The truth is, I just woke up one day and decided it's time for a change—a metamorphosis, if you will; or, in layman's terms, if Britney can shave her head, then maybe so can I? Nevertheless, it's been a rather handsome 10 years of talking to you, and thank you for putting up with all my moodswings and terrible dad jokes. Fear not! The hormonal imbalance and jokes are more terrible on CUBICLE, see you there.

Let’s skip the beating-around-the-bush thing I normally do in this blurb and get straight to the point, I love this place and would gladly get on a plane for a lunch here. The Gesseler brothers’ U Kucharzy (At the Cooks’) restaurant in Warsaw is perhaps my favourite in town, although yes, I don’t qualify to say things like ‘best in town‘ because the loser that I am don’t actually know all the things in town… But get this, at lunchtime during weekdays a traditional Polish three-course meal is £5, everyday a different menu. There’s an open kitchen, the atmosphere is wartime cafe-esque, and the waiter serves you at your own table from the food trolly. The house punch tastes like fruit from the tree growing in the back yard, and the staff are wonderful with a cherry on top. There’s an equally amazing London branch just around the corner from South Kensington, my little Poland corner when I miss Warsaw.

Sofitel Hotel Wrocław; Wrocław Old Town; Ddaddy’s restaurant sushi

Well, stuck in a parkinglot-like traffic jam towards West Poland to the city of Wrocław, is where I’ve been. For about the first 3 hours the car travel-song has been ‘Daddy daddy let’s go back home~♪’ chiming from the backseat, responded with ‘Shut your trap and sleep; we’re going to see the end of this trip~♫’ from the front. My mother and father make an awesome duo. Apparently April is when bears wake from hibernation and the country switch on the roadworks mode. In simple words, it took 3 hours to drive 120km (75mi)… I die. (Or is this not how you’re meant to use ‘I die’, Rachel Zoe?) Wrocław is beautiful, perhaps more beautiful than Warsaw in terms of architecture, but one should not forget that Warsaw was flattened during WWII and then rebuilt under communist regime! (One should stop speaking like a dumbass!) The most delightful of all was how nice the people were, especially in the markets. None of those in-your-face sales stalking and burdensome faux kindness… in fact, my brother was so pleased he overcharged himself for a simple hairbrush and paid the man £12.

Hope you’re all having a wonderful Easter weekend.

Purple shirt & shirt as skirt, black sheer dress – Warsaw secondhand shop (all for £5, love it), Brogues – Office, Coat – Anywho x Kobra, Warrior Bag – WWA courtesy of The Olive Shoppe; Thank you Oliwia for helping with shots!

I’ve officially hit the back wall of my mother’s wardrobe – managed to find a nest of badgers back there but now this means I have nothing else to steal, and it’s been long since the original contents of my suitcase have been used and abused. Oliwia and I dropped by one of those second-hand stores where they sell clothes by the weight, after basically sifting through ‘history of trash and trend’, managed to score these shirts and two other items for a grand total of £6. Dig at polyester dump by day, live vicariously window surfing dresses and jackets by night, why naturally. Funny, I arrived in Warsaw late February with half a suitcase thinking I’d be here a week, two weeks tops. Then things deteriorated at the visa end and now I’m entering my 7th week… had someone told me beforehand I’d have brought a colouring book or something. The visa is out now (hot line thank you’s to the Big Man), so I’ll be returning to London in May.

Still some time to vote for mama here! (London region kiss) (Thank you so much x)

Maciej Zień boutique , ul. Mokotowska 57

Not sure what kind of courage beverage I drank in the morning before my breakfast Red Bull but A and I were walking by the Maciej Zień boutique and I caught myself climbing the steps. Usually with my chronic case of boutique-phobia I either need to pick a nail or ten outside the doors before mustering up the courage to push through the heavy doors, or hire a guide dog and a long stick… (This being the reason I’ve never been inside a Chanel boutique, as ironic as that sounds) I guess I know that I don’t belong when my two-month rent is hanging from hangers. Well, if we’re using that conversion method then I guess this boutique is real-estate bonanza. Zień is famous for dressing Polish celebrities; his designs exude an understated elegance, mostly expressed in the choice of fabric and draping methods. Frankly though, I’m a little puzzled by the haute pricing considering how young and domestic the brand is, but who am I to judge?
