I've moved on...
...to a different domain. Why, what were you thinking? The truth is, I just woke up one day and decided it's time for a change—a metamorphosis, if you will; or, in layman's terms, if Britney can shave her head, then maybe so can I? Nevertheless, it's been a rather handsome 10 years of talking to you, and thank you for putting up with all my moodswings and terrible dad jokes. Fear not! The hormonal imbalance and jokes are more terrible on CUBICLE, see you there.

Chanel SS13 and a forest of wind turbines at the Grand Palais

Now would you just look at that bag.

Chanel Spring-Summer ’13 Paris Fashion Week;

This might be yesterday’s news but seeing as today is Halloween and I’ve already painted my face with cupcake icing and dressed up as a Fashion Blogger, I might as well do the dance too. It so happens that a folder full of unedited photos from the Chanel SS13 show has been haunting me for the past month, and this might actually be the only time I can share before we’re onto a whole other season/collection so far from the ‘now’ (which may or may not cause my brain implode). It was such a beautiful show, words (well, mine at least) really can’t describe the grandeur of the setting. No profound ‘eco-friendly’ message as the wind turbines might suggest, but the underlying theme was fresh air, the sense of clean and refreshing breeze cutting through a thick summer day, which was apparently how the collection came to Lagerfeld this summer. Shorter hems, oversized breezy, strapless, and perfect circles (lucite brim boaters and pearls everywhere) – plus I’m hoping the hula-hoops detach from the bag so it completes the playfulness in lego-shaped accessories.

Hope you’re having a fun Hallowe’en, don’t forget to leave a nice drunk comment when you’re home, you know how much I love hearing from you!

I grew up to the sound of slapping – my mother slapping serums and lotions into her face every morning and evening, that is – nothing at all to do with being a tiger-mum, oh nooo. (Come back after midnight and I’ll share some gory details of me growing up a Korean kid with absolutely no talent for maths) We kept the dressing table in my room even before I had my first acne, but the light was always good in the morning and for years I’d jolt awake to wild noises of my mother’s extensive skincare routine… and in a couple of years once I’d grown a pair of boobs it’d become mine. Layering skincare is no secret to modern women, and while I won’t deny that my mother’s clap-fest was probably more fuelled by the horsepower in her arms than some kind of dedication for good skin, slapping – or ‘firm’ patting – is a neat trick that helps stimulate blood-flow, which makes the skin more receptive to ingredients. Plus, it also raises the skin temperature ever so slightly which means products can seep deeper! So that’s my little skincare tip, whacking in all those layers in and hoping I won’t pop an eyeball.

I’ve been meaning to share the few products I use daily, but this Crème de la Mer review + shoot I did for Editer.com came at a great time so I thought I’d start with this. Make sure to check out for the little treat that Crème de la Mer are offering to Editer.com readers: a deluxe 7ml travel size of the Moisturizing Soft Cream with any purchase at www.cremedelamer.co.uk (just use ‘EDITER‘ when you check out)!

A day before our flight to Spain, my husband tore off a chunk of the post-it note that had our what-to-pack list and slapped it on my arm, saying ‘don’t pack  your laptop, this will be your 7-day quitting patch’. I too tore off a slice for him and stuck it on his forehead, because hey, I wasn’t going to let the evil man eat chocolate if I was to be on a diet, so to speak. So we left for the airport, pounds lighter without our usual gear and a few other things (that chunk I tore off…), but heart heavy with the fact that I couldn’t even set some kind of a scheduled post here. It started with asking for three drinks in the plane instead of one, and then three toasts with nutella + banana slices for breakfast instead of the usual one cup of coffee, and an entire day of emptying out our friend‘s fridge (flan, leftover paella, grilled chicken, something that might’ve been dog food…etc) then going for the routine sunset stroll to the supermercado to replenish stocks for the next day. At one point I swear I could see my fingers tremble in the pattern of my email password, so instead I pet Murphy the ridgeback until we saw bald patches. At night, we played board games in Dutch and whenever either of us started losing blamed the only Dutch-speaker (aka host) for making up rules we couldn’t check online.

I won’t lie, and I’m sure you’ve all tried going off the computer/internet for a few days and will know exactly, it was pretty liberating. Personally I did come back 2kg heavier so with my brand of logic I will conclude that quitting computer is fattening, and therefore EVIL, but I won’t deny that I did feel very deeply rested after our little holiday in Fuengirola.

A certain Linda Evangelista might say, I don’t get out of bed for less than a bowl of phô and a perspiring glass of sweet Vietnamese ice coffee. In fact, let me go put this in my Advertise page – set me up with phô for the rest of the year and my blog is YOURS, basically. A few years ago I used to travel all the way across town from West London to Kingsland Road to get a fix of what I can only describe as, the ultimate comfort food; of course, the journey would take over an hour with collateral loss of other major comfort factors. But what can I say, this is the kind of logic I live with, if I had a tail I’d chase it, par example. Viet Grill (58 Kingsland Road) is our preferred den, with its (dareIsay) chic Martinique-d walls, sunflower table-deco and too-cool-for-school waiters, but should you find yourself at the bottom of that road one evening out in Shoreditch, there are countless options that will do the job. Or try this, if you’re blessed with whatever coloured thumb that allows for conjuring ultimate comfort in the comfort in your own home. You superior being, you.
