I've moved on...
...to a different domain. Why, what were you thinking? The truth is, I just woke up one day and decided it's time for a change—a metamorphosis, if you will; or, in layman's terms, if Britney can shave her head, then maybe so can I? Nevertheless, it's been a rather handsome 10 years of talking to you, and thank you for putting up with all my moodswings and terrible dad jokes. Fear not! The hormonal imbalance and jokes are more terrible on CUBICLE, see you there.

My Vogues are getting better treatment since they started this More Dash Than Cash column – you know, that extra gentle shove when going on the shelf. ELLEs, on the other hand, are getting the crinkle-shove treatment nowadays. Here are some snippets from Vogue UK June 2009 (pages 93, 94) that I thought were interesting tips for DIY.

Think Big

Layer and twist three long necklaces to make one statement piece. Outsize earrings are back – make your own cluttered drops by attaching gems or paillette sequins to basic clip-ons.”

“Carry your clutch as jewellery; Adorn with clusters of pin badges and brooches.”

They even had a blazer customizing mini-tutorial by Erdem Moralioglu, I wish I had a scanner to go crazy on.

With Natalia Vodianova buck nude on the cover, I don’t even have to encourage anyone to go buy a copy – I’m sure your boyfriends will get them for you.

Several readers emailed me asking for tips on dipping into the style-blogging community, where to start and how to attract readers. I must say, I’m not in the deep end myself, but I can give one simple advice: Start from a community stylesite like Fabsugar, Lookbook, Chictopia or Modepass.

The best way to gather supporters and regular readers is from someplace where they know your style well and love you for it, then you can wade into a bit deeper area and contemplate in participating in the war between Blogger and WordPress. You may not even choose to move if you settle in and become comfortable with the audiences and method of blogging.

I personally moved out from a community because I didn’t enjoy being ‘graded’ for what I wear, and I wanted a proper blogger-to-reader relationship, but I’d still gained a lot of friends  and readers from using the site for a few months. For those like myself, I recommend Modepass, where I sense it’s less about the giving points to an outfit, and more about making an image for yourself.

Make your own personal header, determine the background colours and highlight colours, and then start posting outfit/inspiration photos. It’s that simple.

Thing is, I have something for those still deciding if they should give it a go. Modepass contacted me with an opportunity for new members to win a 100€ voucher, through Park&Cube.

All you need to do is Join at Modepass, go to My Account, then edit your Profile, and in the field Addicted to, write parkandcube. Yuh, my blogname happens to be your portal to winning moolah, am I not a Genie in a bottle?

I’ll see you at the finish line on the 21st of May, that’s when they will announce winners to me. Come back here for some pancake & cucumber celebration!

Sorry for the lack of posts. Would you pat me if I told you what happened last night? Nothing serious, just a big fat FAIL. I had work piled up in the to-do list – combination of schoolwork, work, emails to answer, etc… but I was so tired that I went up to sit on the bed. (jeez. not sure why) Then I jolt up and it’s bright out, I’m in the covers and all but I’m still wearing my glasses and makeup.

I don’t know how one manages to sleep in a bed with glasses on. For 10 hours.

Anyway.

I highly recommend anyone living/visiting London to check out Borough Market‘s Bambi-burger stand. They were out of beef so I had to go for Venison (deer) meat, which tastes Awwww my but not in the sense of aww my, cute little deer, if you know what I mean. I think if Disney had produced a movie about a cute little calf then we’d all be sentimental about our steaks and burgers. Not that I was any sentimental about my deermeat burger…in fact I was very happy to unite with Bambi that way.

As for the market, it’s a food market – a very well-mannered and full of colour, the sort of market where it’s still pleasant to be wedged between ice cream-hauling, burger-chomping people just because you’re doing exactly the same thing and it’s basically a food-gargling funfest.
